Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
CarVerdict ("we", "us", "our") provides AI-powered car tools at carverdict.app and its related apps. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what control you have over it. If anything here is unclear, email us at carverdict.billing@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
Depending on how you use CarVerdict, we may collect:
- Account info: email address, display name, and password (your password itself is never seen or stored by us — it's handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase).
- Usage data: which tools you use, how many times per day, and your subscription tier (free, trial, or Pro) — used to enforce daily limits fairly.
- Content you submit: details you type into a tool (e.g. a car's make/model, a repair quote, a VIN, a listing you paste in) so our AI can generate a result for you.
- Garage data: if you use the Garage feature, we store the car details, mileage, maintenance history, and cost logs you choose to save.
- Quiz & leaderboard data: a chosen display name and your scores, if you play the Car Quiz.
- Device/network signals: IP address and a randomly generated device identifier — used only to apply free-tier usage limits fairly to guests who aren't signed in, and to prevent the same device from claiming unlimited free trials under different emails.
- Payment metadata: your subscription status and a customer reference ID from our payment processor. We never see or store your card number, mobile money PIN, or other payment credentials — those go directly to Paystack or Lemon Squeezy.
- Push notification tokens: only if you explicitly opt in to notifications.
2. How we use it
- To provide the tool results, Garage tracking, and quiz features you use.
- To enforce free-tier daily limits and your 2-day Pro trial fairly.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send account-related emails (welcome, trial ending soon, Pro expired) — never marketing spam.
- To detect abuse, fraud, or attempts to bypass usage limits.
- To improve the app based on aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever.
3. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run CarVerdict. Each only receives the minimum data it needs to do its job:
We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of browser storage — not third-party ad-tracking cookies. Specifically: a device identifier (to apply guest usage limits and prevent trial abuse fairly), and your login session and subscription tier (so you don't have to sign in on every page). You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's site data, though this may reset your guest usage limits.
5. Payments
Subscriptions are billed through Paystack (mobile money, local cards, bank transfer) or Lemon Squeezy (Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay), depending on your region. We offer a 48-hour, no-questions-asked refund on your first payment — email carverdict.billing@gmail.com within 48 hours of subscribing. See our Terms of Service for full billing terms.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Usage logs and device signals used for rate-limiting are retained only as long as needed to enforce daily/trial limits. If you delete your account, your profile, Garage data, saved results, and quiz history are permanently removed. Payment records may be retained separately by Paystack/Lemon Squeezy per their own obligations.
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access your data — view it directly in your Profile and Garage pages.
- Correct it — edit your display name, car details, and other info yourself, any time.
- Delete it — use "Delete Account" in your Profile page to permanently and immediately remove your account and all associated data. This cannot be undone.
- Request a copy of your data, or ask us any question about how it's used, by emailing carverdict.billing@gmail.com.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, database-level access controls so your data is only ever readable by you or by our backend systems, and secure password handling delegated entirely to Supabase's authentication service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Children's privacy
CarVerdict is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
10. International users
CarVerdict is a global product. Your data may be processed by our service providers in countries other than your own. By using CarVerdict, you consent to this processing.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CarVerdict evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of CarVerdict after a change means you accept the updated policy.
